The Central Lunenburg Chargers (7-3) finished third in the James River District after ending their regular season with a 48-14 win over Cumberland on Friday night. With the win, the Chargers also finished as the No. 6 seed in the VHSL 1A East region and will host their first playoff game on Friday at 7 p.m. against Lancaster (5-5).
This is the first state playoff round out of four leading up to the state finals. If Central wins on Friday, they will have a chance to host their second playoff round game. However, if William Campbell (No. 5, 7-3) defeats Colonial Beach (No. 12, 3-6) on Friday, the Chargers will have to travel to William Campbell for their next playoff game.
