Central High School seniors Brandon Williams and William Hunter Alphin have been awarded internships with Dominion Brunswick County Power Station.

The seniors were recommended by their High Performance Technology instructors at Southside Virginia Community College’s Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center in South Hill, where they are second-year dual enrollment students. After Dominion Power received their recommendations, the students completed an application and participated in a panel interview. The internship is prestigious and difficult to receive.

During the six month internship they will work 20 hours or more in the facility and they will be revising and developing procedures and training material for the company. Besides gaining experience and making valuable contacts, both students will earn a Career Studies Certificate in High Performance Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Technology and a total of 48 college credits with SVCC.
