Rites held for Larry Mayes Seamster

Larry Mayes Seamster, 68, of Blackstone, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Gilley Seamster; son, Jason Seamster (Shaun) of Chesterfield; and daughter, Michelle Seamster Cook (Bobby) of Crewe.  He had three grandchildren whom he adored: Grace Elizabeth Cook, Samuel Eli Cook and Tate Declan Seamster.  Larry is also survived by two sisters, Linda Mae Dawson (Ronnie) of Lunenburg and Brenda Madison (Leonard) of Dunnsville; and very special mother-in-law Elizabeth “Nanny” Greene of Victoria.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lacy and Mary Rebecca Seamster, and a brother, John “Dude” Seamster.  Larry served in the U S Army during the Tet 69 Counter Offensive in the Vietnam War.   Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd. (Bus. Hwy. 460), near Blackstone, where funeral services will also take place at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016.  Interment with military honors will follow in Grace Methodist Church Cemetery, Wilsons, VA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Sue Wilson, 522 E.
