A marketing and networking event for Southside farmers will be held Friday, at the R.R. Moton Museum in Farmville.

“Cultivating Connections: a Marketing and Networking Event for Beginning Farmers in Southside” will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Technically, the program is for beginning farmers, but noted Beverley P. Hawthorne, Lunenburg County’s director of community development, “Beginning farmer is a very loose term.”

“Learn about valuable marketing tools and resources like VA Market Maker, Virginia Beginning Farmer and Rancher Coalition, VA Grown and VA Finest, and Buy Fresh Buy Local,” said a release.

Attendees will participate in discussions on Farm to School, Farm to Table, Produce Auctions, Food Hubs, SNAP, and Value-Added. “Network with other beginning farmers over lunch,” the release stated.

The event is funded through the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the USDA-National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
