Shirley Lee, of Kenbridge and native of Lunenburg County, recently presented to the Lunenburg County Historical Society framed photographs of Ledbetter School along with a school history. The photographs were collected by Lee for inclusion in her forthcoming book, “Trails and Trailblazers: History of Public Education and School Desegregation in Lunenburg County, Virginia, 1870-1970.” Lee, a career educator, was a member of Central High School’s Class of 1970, the first year that Lunenburg’s schools were fully desegregated. Receiving the gift is LCHS President Steve Israel.
