DAR presents awards

The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter NSDAR recognized its winners of the Flag of the United States of America Essay Contest during its March 8 Scholarships and Awards Tea which was held at the Historic Farmville Train Station. Fourth-grade students from area schools wrote on the topic, “What the American Flag Means to Me.”
The top two winners were Jack Epps and Isis Bigelow, both from Prince Edward County Elementary School. These two students were given the opportunity to read their essays and were presented a Flag of the United States of America Certificate by Rebecca Kelly and Marilyn Osborn, Flag of the United States Committee Co-Chairs.
