Steve Israel, left, president of the Lunenburg County Historical Society, welcomed Adam Erby to the society’s meeting on Sunday, April 10, at the Ripberger Library in Kenbridge. Erby, associate curator at Mount Vernon, spoke to the large crowd on the topic of George Washington’s landscaping projects at his northern Virginia home. Erby, a native of Lunenburg County with degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Delaware, also signed copies of “The General in the Garden.” The illustrated book contains essays based on the work that Erby and others did to produce the Mount Vernon exhibit “Gardens and Groves.”
