On April 2, the Victoria Golf Club hosted the Second annual Lunenburg County Ministries Golf Benefit and a food drive to raise money for the food pantry it operates.

The organization is run strictly by volunteers and receives no financial help from the county nor towns, and it does not get any grants from the state or federal levels.

“These volunteers are the unsung heroes of our community for what they do,” said Victoria Golf Club member and tournament coordinator Chris Craft.

This year, Craft worked with Bob Smith, Jack Roberts, Robert Ledbetter and Richard Speights from the ministries to raise over $2,000 and over 200 pounds of food donated.

First place went to Team Childress with 13 under par. Second place went to Team Hite with 10 under par.

Third place went to Team Craft with 8 under par.
