The Delta Alpha Chapter, of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, held its April meeting surrounded by the lush greenery of “Twigs & Berries,” a garden center and fruit and vegetable shop in Kenbridge. Following an outdoor lunch of organic offerings from the shop, proprietor Mary Ann Ciccala, right, discussed the cultivation and labeling of organic foods, especially the USDA Official Certification. Members listening intently to her presentation included, from left, Rita Ashton; Betsy Sheffield, chapter president; Mary Ann Whitlow, chapter vice president of the Lunenburg chapter; and Amelia Poythress, of Mecklenburg County. Membership is by invitation only. Delta Alpha members either live or work currently or in the past in Brunswick or Lunenburg Counties.
