Area students graduate from Fuqua

Fuqua School held its commencement Friday evening on the front lawn of the upper school campus. Keeping with the tradition of inviting alumni to deliver the commencement address, this year’s guest speaker was Dr. Fred Garrett, Class of 1979.

Garrett is the director of guidance, navigation and control (GNC) engineering in the Launch Vehicles Division at Orbital ATK in Chandler, Ariz., and adjunct professor at Arizona State University.

The Fuqua School graduates from the Nottoway and Lunenburg area are Kaysi Ellett, Dustin Reynolds, Nathanael Holshoe, Madison Pace and Ariel Fowlkes.

Ellett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Ellett, of Burkeville. She was accepted at Longwood University and Southside Virginia Community College. Ellett will attend Southside Virginia Community College in the fall.

Reynolds is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Reynolds, of Crewe. He will attend Longwood University in the fall.  Holshoe is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holshoe, of Kenbridge. He was accepted at Bryant University, Hampden-Sydney College, Longwood University, University of Rhode Island and Virginia Tech. Holshoe graduates magna cum laude and in the fall he will attend Hampden-Sydney College.

Pace is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pace, of Crewe. Pace was accepted at Bridgewater College, Mary Baldwin College, Radford University, Roanoke College and University of Mary Washington.

She graduates magna cum laude, earned the Silver Service Award for over 100 hours of community service and will attend University of Mary Washington this fall.

Fowlkes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fowlkes, of Burkeville. She was accepted at Jefferson College of Health Sciences, Longwood University, Randolph College and Southside Virginia Community College. Fowlkes graduates cum laude and will attend Southside Virginia Community College this fall.
