The 2016 seasons of Central High School’s varsity baseball and softball teams came to an end on Tuesday evening in the Region 1A East Tournament quarterfinals at Windsor High School.

The sixth-seeded Chargers baseball team was locked in a close game with third-seeded Windsor that went into an extra inning, but then Hunter Williams of the Dukes hit a three-run home run to give his team a 9-6 victory over Central in the eighth inning.

The Lady Chargers, who held the eighth seed in their tournament, hung with top-seeded Windsor but ultimately fell 3-2.

Leading up to Tuesday’s game, Central’s baseball team finished as runner-up in the Conference 42 Tournament last week.

Central’s softball also finished as runner-up in last week’s conference softball tournament.

The Lady Chargers finished the year with an overall record of 7-15, while the Central baseball team finished at 13-9.
