The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors granted a permit for the annual Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue July 4 fireworks show.

The display is scheduled for July 4 and will be at the department’s ball field, with a rain date of July 9.

“We will be shooting an electronic show at around 9:15 p.m. on either one of those dates, weather permitting,” said H. Ernie Pyle Jr., a captain with Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. in a letter to supervisors. “This will again be a family friendly event, with no alcohol allowed.”

Pyle, Chief Andrew Tatum and James Hurt will be the safety operations for the year.

Pyle thanked the board for its “continued support, so that we may bring this annual event to Lunenburg County.”
