The Lunenburg County Youth Baseball League All-Stars shook off the effects of a 24-2 loss to the Dinwiddie National All-Stars on Monday and defeated the Charlotte County All-Stars 2-0 on Tuesday during the Dixie Youth District 5 Minor League All-Star Tournament  in Victoria.

“I was thrilled with the way they came back after last night, and they were able to put everything together, and that was such a magnificent pitching performance by Ryan Allard,” Lunenburg Manager Carl Ashworth said. “It was awesome. The fielders made the plays we had to make, and we never really hit the ball that well, but we hit it enough.”

Allard threw 13 strikeouts, meaning the defense needed only to produce five outs for the entire game.

Lunenburg recorded its only runs in the fifth inning, scored by Allard and Jordan Jackson.

With a record of 3-1 in the tournament, Lunenburg will face undefeated Dinwiddie National in the championship game at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Victoria, needing two wins to claim the title.
