Lunenburg County Public Schools is preparing for educators and students to return back to school with a convocation for teachers and an open house for parents the week before the school year starts.

The school system announced convocation for teachers will be held Tuesday at Lunenburg Middle School. A continental breakfast will be served at 8:15 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m.

Then, on Thursday, Aug. 18, a pre K-12th grade open house will be held from 1-6 p.m. allowing parents to visit at all of the schools.

School starts Monday, Aug. 22.

School officials said those with questions regarding the bus routes, or pickup or drop-off times should contact the system’s transportation department at the school board office at (434) 676-2467.

The system’s website — www.lunenburgcountyschools.org — has more 2016-17 information on: the school calendar; fees for all schools; supply lists for kindergarten through eighth grade; breakfast and lunch prices and free and reduced meal information.

“Most of these items will be in the packet of information that you receive at Open House,” noted a statement from the system.

Those who would like a hard copy of any of these items may call (434) 676-2467 or stop by the school board office located at 1009 Main St. in Kenbridge.
