Young cheerleaders in Lunenburg County had their skillsets honed and expanded recently at Central High School’s Cheer Camp, which ran Aug. 1-4. It was broken up into mini-camps, with the evenings on Aug. 1 and 2 focusing on the importance of motions, positions and the basics of safe stunting and proper weight room usage. Participants were also taught new chants and the workout for the entire year. On Aug. 3 and 4, campers were taught advanced stunts, transitions during stunts and advanced dismounts by Vanessa Epps, cheer and tumbling coach.
