The Lunenburg County Public Library System (LCPLS) kicked off the summer with a bang.

Victoria and Ripberger public libraries made sure that just because schools were out, the learning did not end but continued with Summer Reading Programs.

Victoria Public Library recently hosted more than 200 students in Lunenburg County’s summer school program for three reading days. The children were supplied with helpful information on farming and pet care by Marianne Cicala, of Twigs and Berries; Dr. Glenn Deckert, of Lunenburg Animal Hospital; and Ray Elliot, of Lunenburg Animal Control. The library staff offered the students creative animal- and plant-related activities and crafts.

Ripberger Public Library opened its doors to the children of the community for a Mad Science show, as well. The children were entertained by the booms, pops and fizzes that the mad scientist created by combining the chemicals in commonly used household items.

The LCPLS plans to provide  programs through the year.
