Nurse practitioner begins at Lunenburg Medical Center

Southern Dominion Health System Inc. (SDHS) recently welcomed Sara Ashworth to its work family.   

Ashworth is a board-certified nurse practitioner who received her undergraduate from Southside Virginia Community College and J. Sargent Reynolds ADN nursing program. While nursing for 13 years, she decided to continue her education attending Old Dominion University for her BSN; and Chamberlain School of Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner where she got her MSN. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner she was employed with VCU Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill.

Ashworth loves spending time with her husband and girls. She and her family reside in Lawrenceville.

Southern Dominion Health System operates four Federally Qualified Health Centers in three central Piedmont counties of Virginia. The medical centers, located in Victoria, Amelia, Emporia and Dinwiddie serve the primary care needs of all patients in the corporation’s service area and saw more than 39,000 patient visits last year. The corporation was first established as the Lunenburg Medical Center in 1984 and has since grown to the five corporate sites serving the primary care needs of the patients in those communities.
