John Webb, a member of the management team at Benchmark Community Bank, was among the 58 Virginia bankers who graduated Aug. 5 from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, according to a recent press release from Benchmark. The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association in cooperation with the McIntire School of Commerce at the University.

“The Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management provides a multidimensional banking educational experience. Those accepted into the program are immersed in a comprehensive curriculum which is rolled out during a one-week resident session each summer and through interim assignments submitted online. Graduates broadened their knowledge in all respects of banking, economics and related subjects,” the release stated.

Webb has risen quickly through the ranks at Benchmark. He joined the bank in 2012 as a relationship banker in South Hill and, through a series of promotions, is now a vice president serving as both a branch manager in South Hill and area manager for Lunenburg County.

Webb is appreciative of the confidence Benchmark has in him and the support he has received, saying, “I want to thank Benchmark for giving me the opportunity to attend this school and study with other bankers from across the state. It was a wonderful experience that allowed me to expand my understanding of our industry and increase my professional network. I’m looking forward to applying the knowledge I’ve gained to better benefit both the bank and our customers.”
