The Kenston Forest School varsity football team traveled to face Quantico High School on Friday in a meeting between two 2-0 teams, but the Kavaliers struggled mightily, ultimately falling 55-0.

The Warriors jumped on the Kavs early, running up a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.

Kenston suffered multiple early injuries which limited the adjustments the Kavalier coaches could make. The depth-challenged Kavaliers finished the game with 11 healthy players.

The final score was the continuation in a trend for Quantico, which won its first game of the season 61-0 against Massanutten Military Academy and then defeated Hancock High School of Maryland 36-0.

Kenston senior J.E.B. Buchanan played well despite having a broken thumb. On defense, he totaled 10 tackles, and on offense, he carries for 41 yards. Elijah Warner, Kenston’s freshman quarterback, rushed for 51 yards, completed three passes and returned six kickoffs for 70 yards.

The Kavaliers (2-1) look to return to their winning ways on Friday when they host Brunswick Academy (1-1) at 7 p.m. Kenston opened its season with a 34-26 road victory against the Vikings on Aug. 26.

The Vikings are coming off a bye week, prior to which they rebounded from their loss with a 44-13 victory against the visiting Northern Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Centurions.
