School has started, the weather is cooling off and the Lunenburg County Public Library System (LCPLS) has exciting programs for the month of October.
Pumpkin Time will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20th at the Ripberger Public Library community room from 10-11 a.m. Pumpkins will be supplied by Parrish Pumpkin Patch.
On Oct. 18th, both branches of LCPLS will feature a program on soil and water conservation for first and second graders. Students will have the opportunity for hands-on projects during the sessions to help them learn about the natural environment and conservation.
LCPLS is available for school field trips and library staff can work with teachers to create educational and entertaining programs. If you are interested in scheduling a visit or would like to explore library resources to enrich the classroom experience, please contact the Victoria Public Library at (434) 696-3416 or the Ripberger Public Library at (434) 676-3456.
For many people, cooler weather means time for the slow cooker. LCPLS has a wide variety of cookbooks that feature recipes for fall vegetables and delicious slow cooker meals. If you enjoy decorating your home for fall and Halloween, we also have arts, crafts and decorating books and magazines to spark your imagination.
Both branches of LCPLS offer services for the public including community meeting rooms and free computers with wi-fi access. Computer usage is for one hour increments and patrons must have a library card. If you don’t have a card, sign up for one on your next visit. They’re free and offer access to books, periodicals, DVD’s and many other resources.
