Competitive season for Lunenburg Lightning

The Lunenburg Lightning varsity football team recently lost 18-12 in double overtime in the James River Southside Youth Football Association Super Bowl against Emporia at Park View High School in South Hill.
Jamari Moore scored on a power run off tackle with 34 seconds left to force overtime.
The Lightning varsity squad finished the year 6-4 and won the Southside Division Championship.
The Lightning flag team went 5-4-1 and finished second in its division.
The Lightning minors and junior varsity teams each went 4-6.
“All the teams were competitive and learned fundamentals,” Lunenburg Lightning President Mike McGrath said.
Across all age groups, the program, well-supported by the community, featured 110 players.
