A juvenile male subject is facing three charges following a car chase just before noon Friday.
According to Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy D.J. Penland, the chase started around 11:45 a.m. Friday on Royal Oaks Road just outside the town of Victoria. He said the chase lasted about 10 minutes and ended on Plank Road close to Kenbridge.
“He gave up without incident,” Penland said.
He said the juvenile male, whose age was not disclosed, is charged with felony eluding, reckless driving and driving without a license. Penland said the chase involved speeds of up to 85 mph.
“But it was mostly on back roads with an inexperienced driver,” he said.
Penland confirmed a passenger in the car jumped out as the chase began. That person has yet to be located, he said.
“We’re still looking into that,” said Penland, who could not confirm whether the passenger was also a juvenile.
He said the car was a 2010 Chevy Malibu stolen out of Newport News, but had no other details.
Penland said Officer Alex Madison was involved in the chase and effected the juvenile’s arrest with the assistance of the Virginia State Police.
