Rites held for Aubrey H. Tisdale, Jr.

Aubrey H. Tisdale Jr. died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at age 74. He passed away peacefully at Lynchburg General Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine Snead Tisdale; his son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Christina Tisdale of Martinsville; his daughter, Teri Elaine Tisdale-Duty of Lunenburg; his three grandchildren, Caleb Graham and Jacob Aubrey Tisdale and Kristin Elaine Duty and John Wesley Duty of Keysville; and three siblings, Mary Ann Hamilton and Anita Spencer, of Martinsburg, WV, and Alvan R. Tisdale of Webb City, MO.

After graduating from Victoria High School, Aubrey served in the United States Army and later managed Wright’s Superette for many years in Victoria. He was a family man and cherished his wife, spent time with his children, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up. His hobbies included coaching little league baseball, singing bass in a quartet at Victoria Christian Church, storytelling, playing Rook, cooking and sharing meals, hunting, and fishing. Aubrey loved all animals especially his dogs and cat.

Aubrey, a unique man, was generous and humble, and loved by all. As a saved Christian, Aubrey was at peace with God and looked forward to eternal life in heaven.

Per his request, there will be no funeral service, and there will be a private burial. Friends may visit at the family home.

Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Virginia-Southside.
