The Lunenburg County 2016 Christmas Parade was held on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Kenbridge. Although it was cold, we met a lot of new people and had a great time.

We would like to acknowledge our sponsors: the Chamber of Commerce, Benchmark Bank (Kenbridge and Victoria), Kenbridge Construction, Global Refining Group, Red Rooster Auto Sales Inc., Virginia Marble Mfrs. Inc., Mildred’s Meals, Kenbridge Body Shop, S.P. Jones Funeral Home, ABC Recycling, Hood Brothers Inc. and Coffee’s Custom Embroidery. Thank you for helping to make this parade successful.

To all the participants — a very special “thank you.” All the floats, vehicles, motorcycles, marching/walking participants and the bands were great. Without you, there would not have been a parade.

We had some very special guests also. The Grinch (Jacoby Freeman) showed up on the Victoria Fire Engine, Madea (Joyce White-Freeman) came in her own vehicle with her frying pan and Santa (Alex Harmon) was on the Kenbridge Fire Engine throwing candy to the people along the way. A very special thank you to them.

Aside from the sponsors and participants, it still would not have been a parade if no one had come out to see it. So to all the individuals who braved the cold weather to support and see the parade, thank you.

Our thanks to Delegate Roslyn Tyler (Grand Marshal); Wayne Wilmoth (sound equipment); Joyce Harmon and the Rev. Bob Smith (announcers); The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch; and Signs, Designs and More (sponsor’s banner).

My personal thanks to Mrs. Jane S. Barnes of the Blackstone Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Frank Malone of the South Hill Chamber of Commerce for their assistance and guidance.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to The Divine Divas, The 5 O’clock Social Club and Mrs. Gertrude Colbert for assisting with the lineup of the participants.

If I have failed to acknowledge anyone, please forgive me and accept our sincere thanks for your help.

We are looking forward to 2018 when the Parade is in Kenbridge again.
