Hunting dog shot; tips sought

As the day ended for hunters on New Year’s Eve, members of the Ivy Bluff Hunt Club found themselves searching for a hunting dog belonging to C.H. Hall.
“Drifter,” as the dog was called, was wearing a GPS collar. Upon searching, hunters came upon “Drifter,” who appeared lifeless.
The dog had been shot and killed. The incident occurred near the old Ingram Farm on Old Burkeville Road. According to Maj. Donald R. Penland Jr. with the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office, the incident is still under investigation. Lunenburg Animal Control Officer Ray Elliott met with Hall Tuesday.
