BLOOD DRIVE, 1 p.m.-6 p.m., Kenbridge Emergency Squad, Inc., 915 E. 5th Ave., Kenbridge.

JANUARY 13

LEE JACKSON DAY LUNCHTIME PROGRAM, 12:15 p.m. at High Bridge Trail State Park with a lunchtime slide show on the Second Battle for High Bridge. Event will be held at Virginia’s Heartland Regional Visitor Center, 121 E. Third St. Feel free to bring a lunch and enjoy as Ranger Bob Flippen presents a PowerPoint presentation entitled “High Bridge: Lee’s Lost Gamble.” This talk focuses on the events and major figures associated with the strategy resulting in the Second Battle for High Bridge. JANUARY 15

COAT DRIVE, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, Keysville. The drive is sponsored by The Kappa Rho Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

The community is requested to donate new and used coats, hats, gloves, scarves and other winter items for children and adults. The drive will through Jan. 15.

JANUARY 21

WORKSHOPS, 9 a.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church located, 102 Aiken Road, Kenbridge. There will be two workshops for youth and all others who would like to attend. The discussion will consist of driver safety, police procedures, and police/driver courtesy and protocol. Speakers will include police and sheriff’s departments. The second workshop will be a Black History discussion from the community, led by the Rev. C.L. Hobbs Jr., Deacon Cecil Shell and. Easter Crowder. Call (434) 676-3400 if you plan to attend.
