Word is spelling bee champion

Hunter Word, a fifth grader at Victoria Elementary School, was named the winner of the Lunenburg County Public Schools Divisionwide Spelling Bee.

Hunter, the son of Tommy and Cristyl Word, correctly spelled “stroller” to win the top honors.

Caroline Spencer, an eighth grader at Lunenburg Middle School, the daughter of Cal and Meri Page Spencer, was named runner-up. Kenlee Mosher, a fourth grader at Kenbridge Elementary School, and the

daughter of Kelby and Jean Mosher, also participated in the bee.

Hunter will go on to participate in The Richmond Times-Dispatch Spelling Bee, which will be held at 1 p.m. on March 11 at The Library of Virginia.
