Lunenburg Girls Softball (LGS) hosted a work day, sign-up session and barbecue fundraiser Saturday, but there are many more dates to take note of extending into mid-July that LGS Commissioner Tony Matthews has announced for the benefit of softball players, parents and fans.

The draft takes place March 5, and Matthews said he needs coaches.

Opening ceremonies are set for April 8, when chicken plate dinners will also be offered.

A bingo fundraiser will take place April 30, and closing ceremonies will be held June 3.

The Angels/Belles district tournament is scheduled to start June 16 in Blackstone, while the Darlings/Ponytails district tournament is set for June 23 in Farmville.

State tournaments will begin July 14. The Angels will play in Lunenburg, which will require many volunteers. The Darlings and Ponytails will play in South Hill, the Belles will play in Rustburg and the Debs will play in Dinwiddie.
