Ruri-teens perform service project

On Feb. 18, members of the Central High School Ruri-Teens met at the Charles A. Wright Lumber Co. in La Crosse to cut, chop and load firewood for the elderly and shut-ins. The Ruri-teens senior members are encouraged to organize and implement a service project before graduation. The wood delivery project was led by senior Jessica Paquette. The students helped by splitting, operating the wood splitter, loading and unloading the wood. “The recipients of the firewood said over and over how blessed they were because these young people were helping out,” school officials said in a press release. “Even though the temperatures might stay up and less firewood is needed, the families will be able to have a start for next year.” We commend the students for their willingness to serve others.
