Victoria Elementary School (VES) recently held a fundraising event for Jump Rope for Heart. All donations go directly to the American Heart Association.

Kachiri Terry, the school’s physical education teacher, collaborated with second-grade teacher, Cedric Hawkes, to coordinate the fundraiser, according to a press release from the school.

“The original goal for the school was set at $800. Roughly 60 students participated in this event and collectively VES donated $1,832 to the American Heart Association. In recognition of the school’s hard work, all students that raised money participated in a celebration during school hours. Students jumped rope in honor of family members and/or friends that motivated them for raising funds and bringing awareness to the American Heart Association. All Jump Rope for Heart participants had the opportunity of assisting in wrapping school principal (Dawn) Bacon with streamer ribbon.”

Officials say the event was a great success.
