Meredith entered her earthly life April 14, 1934 to Laura (Hicks) and Garland Lee of Kenbridge, Virginia. She attended the Lunenburg County schools and graduated in 1979.
At an early age, Meredith joined Saint Matthew’s Baptist Church where she gave her life to Christ. Although her illnesses prevented her attendance in person, she remained a dedicated and faithful member. Prior to her limited attendance, Meredith was an active member of several church auxiliaries to include; Willing Workers, all church choirs (she loved to sing), Hospitality, Missionaries, Youth Sunday School Teacher and a Deaconess to name a few. She was also active in the community as a member of the Eastern Stars Rosary Chapter #177 and the Variety Gospel Chorus.
Professionally, Meredith worked in food services for the Lunenburg County Public School system. Later in life she was employed as a Quality Control Specialist for Scovill Fasteners Inc. where she retired in 1987.
Meredith was united in marriage to Munford Nelson Gee on June 14, 1950 and, to this happy union, four sons were ushered into this world.
Meredith was a very meticulous and organized soul. She paid careful attention to every detail of her life and kept impeccable records. This quality extended even to the planning of her very own home-going celebration (down to the specific meal for the repast).
Meredith was a pillar to her church, her community, and last but not least, her family. She was the happiest person ever when God granted her the blessing of becoming a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren and one great grandson. Even though much of Meredith‘s life was plagued with numerous illnesses, she bore her pain and suffering with steadfast immovable faith and God’s infused strength.
On March 21, 2017 at 10:10 p.m. Meredith quietly took our Savior’s hand and slipped into glory with God. She now has permanent membership with the heavenly chorus known as the “Voices of Angels.”
Preceding her in death are her parents, Garland and Laura Lee, and two sons Charles and Cleavious Gee and a brother Robert Lee.
Meredith leaves the following individuals to celebrate her life. Husband Munford N. Gee of Kenbridge, Virginia, sons; Phillip Gee (Julia) of Stone Mountain, Georgia & Marvin Gee (Melissa) of Crestview, Florida; grandchildren Megan, Frances, Kiyana, Stephen and a great grandson, Stephen Junior; siblings Bertha Seay of Richmond, Virginia, James Lee (Barbara) of Altadena, California, George Lee (Sheilah) of Fayetteville, Georgia.; sister-in-laws Gladys Minger and Grace Gee; godchildren Beverly Battle, Jamain Gee, Georgia Gordon and Ruby Ingram, treasured and dear friend Mrs. Pauline White and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
