FREESTATE BEEKEEPERS, 7 p.m. will meet at the Victoria Library. There will be a speaker.

APRIL 7

APRIL 8

YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT WORKSHOP, 9 a.m. sponsored by the Midway Sunday School Union at Flat Rock Baptist Church, 2993 Brickland Road. The workshop is titled “Conducting a Meeting.”

APRIL 9

LUNENBURG COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 2 p.m. will meet at the Ripberger Public Library in Kenbridge to hear Diane Langston, of Amelia, discuss DNA testing for genealogical purposes. The public is invited.

SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY, 2:30 p.m. of the First Nottoway Baptist male chorus featuring Russell Coleman and the Gospel Aires of Petersburg and New Creation of Appomattox. Dinner will be served. Please come out to support this event.

37TH HOMECOMING CELEBRATION, 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 57 Merryman Dr., Victoria, with former pastor Wayne Guerrant. Special music will be provided by Jason Guerrant. Sunday school at 10 a.m., lunch will follow the service and an afternoon service following the lunch. Robert Paul is pastor.

HOLY WEEK, at Springfield Baptist Church, 1784 Springfield Road. Meherrin. The church will have Palm Sunday Service at 11 a.m. Maundy Thursday Service will be held at 7 p.m. on April 13. Worship will continue Good Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m., at which time guest ministers will deliver a brief sermon on the last seven utterances of Jesus. Easter Sunday Service will be at 11 a.m on April 16.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 3 p.m. at Saint Matthew’s Baptist Church, Kenbridge. The Rev. Waverly Brown and the Rosebud Baptist Church, will be guests. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. Dinner will be served in the H.R. Watkins’ Fellowship Hall.

102ND CHURCH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Starlight Baptist Church, Kenbridge. Guest will be the Rev. C.L. Hobbs and the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church choir, ushers, deacons and members. Everyone is welcome.

APRIL 10-12

EMPHASIS OF THE SPIRIT, 7-8 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. This will be three nights of spirit-filled teaching and prayer for one hour per night. Lesson materials will be provided; however, all participants are asked to bring a bible. The facilitator for these three nights of teaching and prayer will be the Rev. Raleigh M. Bagley III, pastor of the Concord Baptist Church. The community is welcome to attend and be spirit-filled. This event is being held in lieu of revival this spring.

APRIL 12-14

DAUGHTERS OF THUNDER REVIVAL, 7 p.m. nightly at Pleasant Oak Baptist Church. Ministers are, Wednesday, the Rev. Elnora Miller; Thursday, the Rev. Jacquelyn Bradshaw; and Friday, the Rev. Wendy Lyle Jones.

APRIL 13

MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE, 7:30 p.m. at the Victoria Christian Church. The Lord’s Supper will be observed.

SEVEN WORDS OF CHRIST FROM THE CROSS, 7 p.m. at the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, 3606 Kenbridge Road, Blackstone. Speakers include the Rev. Carolyn Jones, the Rev. Carolyn Elder, the Rev. Marian Jackson, Deaconess Emma Baskerville, the Rev. Norman Davis, Deaconess Dorothy Graves and the Rev. Walter Love. Music will be rendered by the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge. Holy Communion will be administered. Deaconess are asked to wear white. Deacons and ministers are asked to wear black. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

APRIL 15

11TH ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT, 10 a.m. sponsored by the Town of Vitoria and co-sponsored by Klassy Divas Social Club at Victoria Railroad Park. Children through age 5 in group one and 6-12 in group two. There will be games, candy, prizes and lots of fun. Don’t forget your basket and camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny.

COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT, 3 p.m. sponsored by the 5 o’clock Women’s Club at Kenbridge Park, rain or shine. A live Bunny will be given away. Event for ages one to 11.

APRIL 16

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6:30 a.m. at the Victoria Christian Church, followed by light breakfast. Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., followed by morning worship at 11 a.m.

  

APRIL 22

BENEFIT MOTORCYCLE RIDE, 9 a.m. to benefit the Burkeville Lodge for the Blind. Registration, 9 a.m. at the Burkeville Lodge, 341 Oak St., Burkeville. Ride begins at 10 a.m. Day includes 145-mile scenic ride to Lovingston, lunch at the Burkeville Lodge and drawings. Route details will be handed out the morning of the ride. Cost is $20 per rider, including lunch, $10 per passenger with lunch. Contact Harold Wagstaff for more information at (434) 603-1433.

CANNING WORKSHOP, 6-8 p.m. sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Southern Piedmont AREC, 2375 Darvills Road, Blackstone. Class topics include the science of canning, canning recipes, storage of canned goods and how to can with a pressure, hot water bath and steam canners.
