DOWN CENTRAL’S CORRIDORS – FIFTY YEARS LATER: CELEBRATION OF CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY, noon-4 p.m. An open house will be held for the community, former students and faculty. There will be a brief program in the gym at 12:30 p.m. Exhibits of memorabilia will also be included, along with tours of sections of the school and field house. Light refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.

MEMORIAL CANDLELIGHT SERVICE/AMERICAN CANCER BENEFIT PROGRAM, 6 p.m. sponsored by the Soldiers for Christ at Peoples Community Center, Victoria. Reflections will be given in memory of Willie Watkins Jr., Linda Watkins, Chradwick White, Louise and Ethel Felder, Mildred and Eric Lewis, Frank Winn, James Jones, James Logan, Herbert Maddox, Alma Freeman, Elaine Burns, Elaine Jennings, Robinette Tinsley, Demond McKnight and others. The honoree for the evening will be Richard Neblett. Minister Melissa Hymon of Flat Rock Baptist Church will be the emcee. Music will be provided by The Gospel Tones.

A WORSHIP SERVICE, 3 p.m. of the Usher Ministry of New Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Vanessa E. Hicks will be the guest preacher. The Gospel Chorus of St. Mattahew’s Baptist Church will provide the music. Everyone is welcome.

SERVICES, 11 a.m. at Gilfield Baptist Church. The Rev. Gerard Wilson from Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone, will preach.

14TH PASTOR ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1784 Springfield Road, Meherrin, for the Rev. Dr. Theodore Tyrone Brown. Rev. Cedric Gayles, associate minister of Jericho Baptist Church, in Farmville, will be the guest minister for the occasion.

USHER’S DAY, 3 p.m. at New Grove Baptist Church. The speaker of the hour will be the Rev. Vanessa E. Hicks, pastor of David Temple AME Zion Church of Courtland. Music will be rendered by The Combined Voices of Zion of Brodnax. Refreshments will be served after the service. Everyone welcome to attend.

WHITE ROCK DAY, 3 p.m. at The White Rock AME Zion Church, 1123 Lew Jones Road, Alberta.  Sisters Marlene Saunders and Mary Neblett will be inducted into “Upon These Rocks.” These ladies are solid rocks of the church and community and well-deserving of being lifted up. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Rebecca Branch Griffin and the Oak Street AME Zion Church from Petersburg. Guest artists include The Gospel Angels and Mr. C. L. Lewis, of Crewe. Worship leader is the Rev. Patricia Conwell, the church’s first lady. Dinner will be served following the service.

USHER’S MINISTRY, 3 p.m. of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church will celebrate their anniversary. Minister Sharon Baskerville, associate minister of Jerusalem Baptist, South Hill, will be the guest preacher. The White Sisters will render the music. Everyone is welcome.

THIRDa ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of Pastor the Rev. Ray A. Smith of the Starlight Baptist Church. The Rev. Alexander Williams and The Big Bethel Baptist Church from McKenny will be the guests. Everyone is welcome.

28TH PASTOR ANNIVERSARY, 4 p.m. of Pastor Green at The Pleasant Oak Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Walker and Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church are in charge of the service. Dinner will be served.
