Have you ever wondered why?

Have you ever wondered why things happen the way they do? I have been asking myself that question since Mother’s Day. One day I was gleefully thinking about attending my grandchildrens’ graduations and the next day I was being told that I will not be able to travel for the next few weeks. Let me start from the beginning.
I had been telling everyone for months that I would be gone for most of the month of May. On May 11th I was going to Delaware for a granddaughter’s graduation, on May 25 I was going to Norfolk for another granddaughter’s graduation and later on that night I was hopping on a plane to sunny Florida to attend my oldest great grandson’s high school graduation. I was so excited because not only would I be attending the graduation, I would be spending time with my daughter, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Life was looking lovely!
Here’s where the story gets interesting. On Mother’s Day (May 14) while in Delaware, I slipped, fell and severely bruised my hip. I ignored (or tried to) the pain because I didn’t want anything to come between me and my trips. But some things cannot and will not be ignored. My husband had to take me to the doctor on May 16 because the pain became unbearable. After the doctor gave me a shot for the pain and some meds for the inflammation, he gave me some additional terrible news, he said I should not travel for the next six weeks. “Six weeks! But I have plans!” I wanted to scream, but as the saying goes, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him about your plans!”
I’m not going to cry over spilled milk or make myself sad because I won’t be able to see my daughter and grandkids this month. My birthday is Aug. 17 and all of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be there to celebrate with me. Knowing that gives me comfort and I don’t feel so bad about one little fall causing a huge chain of events. I rest in knowing that God’s got it all in control, so no matter what, everything is going to be alright!
Please let me know what happened to you that made you wondered why.
