Cynthia M. Arthur, left, a kindergarten teacher in Vance County, North Carolina, was named Clarke Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 school year recently. Presenting the award is Crystal Richardson, principal at the school.  Arthur has taught a total of 39-and-a-half years including Lunenburg; Pittsylvania; Vance, North Carolina; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Arthur and her husband James, reside in Kenbridge.
