Kenston Forest School (KFS) rising senior Remy Butts was chosen to attend Virginia Boys State.

“Boys State is a non-partisan program hosted by The American Legion at Radford University,” school officials said in a press release.

The event, held in June, marks the 75th session.

“Participants cultivate leadership skills and develop pride in American citizenship. American Legion Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government.”

During Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. “The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices.”

Remy Butts is the son of Charles and Ann Butts of South Hill.
