Lunenburg Dixie Youth and Softball update

Lunenburg went 3-1 across Dixie Youth and Dixie Softball state tournaments played in Victoria, Kenbridge and Sutherland on Saturday.

At the State Dixie Softball Debs All-Star Tournament in Sutherland, the Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) Debs All-Star team defeated the Rustburg All-Stars 8-2, recovering from a 9-3 loss to the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association All-Stars on Friday evening. The LGS Debs play Sunday at 5 p.m.

At the State Dixie Youth Baseball AA Machine Pitch All-Star Tournament in Victoria, the Lunenburg County Youth Baseball League (LCYBL) Machine Pitch All-Stars rebounded from their 13-8 loss Friday to the South Hill All-Stars by defeating the Bedford Metro All-Star team 10-0 on Saturday.

“Defense was on point today,” LCYBL Machine Pitch All-Star Manager Lucy Hall said.

Lunenburg faces the Dinwiddie American All-Stars on Sunday at 3 p.m.

At the State Dixie Softball Angels All-Star Tournament in Kenbridge, the LGS Angels All-Stars were victorious against the Bedford All-Star team after losing to the Crewe-Burkeville All-Stars 10-4 on Friday. Lunenburg plays Sunday at 3 p.m.

The lone loss of the day among the four Lunenburg teams came in the Victoria-hosted State Dixie Youth Baseball Major League All-Star Tournament. The LCYBL Majors All-Stars took a 5-1 lead after the first inning, but the Buckingham County Youth League All-Star team came back to secure a 6-5 win. Lunenburg plays Sunday at 3 p.m.
