The Central High School and Kenston Forest School varsity football teams opened their seasons at home, but both also opened with losses.

The Chargers were competitive against Altavista High School but ultimately fell 37-28 to the Colonels.

Kavaliers Head Coach Tom Inge said his team’s contest against arch-rival Brunswick Academy (BA) “wasn’t pretty.” The Vikings pulled away for a 51-6 victory.

“BA is pretty good this year,” Inge said.

Next week, Central (0-1) visits William Campbell High School on Friday at 7 p.m., and Kenston Forest (0-1) visits Grace Christian School on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
