Pony rides, truck pulls and pets are among the events set to attract members of the community to the annual Autumn Days event Oct. 14 in Victoria.

The day-long event will see a return of pony rides, Town Manager Rodney Newton said. He said the ponies will be provided by area citizens.

“We will be having pony rides this year, which we have not had in a few years,” Newton said.

Those in attendance will not only be able to see ponies on the streets, but pets of all

shapes and sizes as well.

The unique event will result in pets being judged by volunteers and potentially winning prizes, Newton said.

“It gives citizens an opportunity to bring their pet out be in a parade and have it judged,” Newton said, adding a volunteer group is sponsoring the parade and organizing the prizes.

The event will also coincide with the Teresa Matthews annual 5K Run and Walk, lawn mower races and the Victoria Fire & Rescue Truck and Tractor Pull.

The Truck and Tractor Pull is set to begin at Victoria Railroad Park at 4 p.m., welcoming a variety of vehicles including 6400 Pro Stock 4×4, 12,000 Altered Farm, 6200 Open Street 4×4 and 6200 Small Block 4×4, among others.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Victoria Fire & Rescue. Newton said there is no pre-registration for the vehicles, but that people can expect a variety of pullers and tractors.

Admission for the pull is $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12.

Newton said parking is free for the numerous celebrations and participants can expect something that everyone can enjoy.

“There will be several food vendors with a variety of foods, live entertainment, lawn mower races, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments, craft vendors and many activities for the children,” Newton said.
