The Virginia State Police and the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office have found an alleged encounter between a 13-year-old Lunenburg County male and a motorist that occurred at a bus stop in Lunenburg County on Monday morning to be unfounded. According to a press release, a subject has been identified related to the incident and is cooperating with police.

State Police and the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office are reminding parents and children to be alert to their surroundings and know how to protect themselves.

“As we continue to follow up on leads related to Monday morning’s encounter, we want to stress the importance of parents and grandparents talking to their children — of all ages — what to do when it comes to strangers,” said First Sgt. S.C. Leslie, Virginia State Police Area 22 Commander in South Hill. “We also need parents and grandparents to be vigilant when allowing children and teens, to be out on their own, including at bus stops.”
