Phyllis Leona Franklin, wife of Eddie Michael “Mike” Franklin, passed away on Oct. 24, 2017. She was a resident of Dundas, Va. since 1990. Phyllis was born on July 17,1954 to Elsie Mae Sawyer and Linwood Leon Harper Sr. She was born and raised in Va. Beach, Va. Many memories were made as a child growing up by the ocean like fishing off of the pier, and running the carousel at Seaside Park.

She eventually moved with her husband to Dundas, Va. At that time, they became storeowners of Dundas Grocery, which they ran for 12 years, met many wonderful people and made many wonderful memories. People would come from miles away for her famous barbecue sandwiches! Anyone that met Phyllis immediately noticed her sweet personality and kind heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. They meant the world to her and they lovingly called her “Mammaw”. She was a true southerner and a very hard worker. Some of her hobbies were gardening, fishing and drag racing!

Her son, Donald Lee Parker, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Eddie Michael “Mike” Franklin, daughters, Crystal Crouse (Chris), Michelle Franklin (Neal), sons Michael Franklin (Danielle) and Ronnie Franklin. Three brothers and three sisters that she loved dearly, along with many nieces and nephews also survived her. Phyllis’s generous spirit, infectious laughs and love for life will be truly missed.

Celebration of Life will be held on Nov. 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Dundas Hunt Club, 10492 Longview Road, Kenbridge, Va. 23944. In remembrance of her, please consider making a donation in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Flowers may be received until Nov. 4th at Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge, Va.
