Kenston Forest School’s (KFS) varsity girls volleyball team orchestrated a remarkable 2017 season that featured historic and first-time accomplishments. The Lady Kavaliers finished the year with an 18-7 overall record, which included a 12-3 mark in the Virginia Colonial Conference (VCC). They were VCC co-regular season champions with Southampton Academy. The Lady Kavs met Richmond Christian School in the VCC tournament championship match after defeating Amelia Academy 3-1 in the semifinals and topping Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Catholic School 3-0 in the semifinals. KFS lost 3-2 in the championship, but its season was not over. The Lady Kavaliers had earned a No. 9 seed in the 12-team Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state tournament and defeated No. 8 Tandem Friends School 3-2 in the first round. The win enabled the Lady Kavs to compete in the second round for the first time in KFS history. The Lady Kavaliers fell 3-0 in that round to No. 1 StoneBridge School, the eventual state champion.
