The Central High School junior varsity girls basketball team opened last week with its first win of the season and closed the week with its second, going 2-1 across four days to improve to 2-2 on the year.

The Lady Chargers edged visiting Cumberland 25-24 on Dec. 12.

They struggled the next day when they traveled to Buckingham and lost 46-22, but on Friday, Central sent Bluestone home with a 26-17 loss.

Central visits Randolph-Henry on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Chargers return in the new year with a two-game week, visiting Prince Edward on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and hosting Amelia on Friday, Jan. 5.
