Victoria Elementary School (VES) received a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant to help with an ongoing erosion issue on the VES campus. Pictured is Casey Jackson, principal at VES on the left, accepting the check from Charles Berkley, superintendent of Lunenburg County Public Schools in the middle, and James Abernathy, assistant superintendent, who helped in the writing of the grant. Todd Fortune of the Commonwealth Regional Council also assisted in the writing for this grant. The eroding area is visible, with tree roots exposed, in the background of the photo. These funds will be a huge help in improving the school grounds at VES. (Send a “Pic Me Up” with names and information to PicMeUp@KVDispatch.com.)
