CHS DECA participates in District IV Leadership conference

The Central High School DECA Chapter participated in the DECA District IV Leadership Conference. The competition included a test for each field and role play events at River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg. Local business people would serve as judges in the role play events. Since we had bad weather in the month of January, the role plays at River Ridge Mall were cancelled. Participants in the test component held in December were Jeffrey Goodwin, John McGrath, Zhalen Rainey, Jessica Kimball, Kayla Chaffin and Shane Duers (DECA District President). Winners were: Keleahsha Bruce 3rd Place Job Interview; Sara Wilson 2nd place Full Service Restaurant Marketing; Miranda Franklin 1st Place Full Service Restaurant Marketing; Logan Wilkerson 2nd Place Hospitality and Tourism; Alexus Cypress 3rd place Retail Merchandising; Damontrai Barney 3rd Place Selling; Lucien Larkin 2nd place Selling; Ethan Hoover 3rd place Automotive; Casie Yatch Quick Service Restaurant Marketing. By finishing first in the District Miranda qualified to attend the DECA State Leadership Conference and compete in the Restaurant Marketing Full Service event and Shane Duers qualified to attend as the DECA District
