Central High School’s varsity girls basketball team went 0-4 last week, but there were bright spots to highlight.

“In the first Amelia meeting last week, we held them to 35 points, one of Amelia’s lowest offensive outputs of the season,” Lady Chargers Head Coach Scott Wilson said. “Our defense has been pretty dependable this season.”

Central has had some notable individual standouts.

“Megan Dech has been leading the way defensively, averaging seven rebounds and four blocks a game,” Wilson said. “Sorie Scott is becoming more comfortable in the shooting guard position. She scored eight points against Prince Edward and six against Amelia in the second meeting.”

The Lady Chargers (1-15) close the regular season Wednesday against visiting Nottoway High School at 7 p.m., and they will face top-seeded Altavista Combined School in the regional tournament.
