In response to an inquiry received by the Dispatch seeking details on how funds used toward the Economic and Community Development Director are potentially being distributed, the Dispatch contacted Lunenburg County Administrator Tracy Gee for comment.

The Economic and Community Development Director position has been vacant since Beverley Hawthorne’s departure in August 2017.

Gee said the funds that go toward the Economic and Community Development Director have not been distributed to staff or other departments following the vacancy.

“No funds have been distributed to staff or other departments for the duties we are handling for this vacant position,” Gee said.

In response to another question of whether the towns of Kenbridge and Victoria are funding a portion of the Economic and Community Development Director position, Gee said, “The two towns have not contributed funds to this position for over six years. This is a county-funded position supervised by the County Administrator.”
