The Taste-A-State Extravaganza, which presented popular and piquant cuisine from all over the United States, will return June 23 at 3 p.m., a release from Mayflower Baptist Church in Kenbridge cited.
About 30 people took part in last year’s inaugural event, which was held at the People’s Community Center at 1021 Tidewater Ave. in Victoria. The event will be held at People’s this year, as well.
The funds will benefit the Mayflower Baptist Church, located at 3620 Sneads Store Road in Kenbridge.
Participants cooked foods that represented popular fare from each of the states in the U.S.
Among the samples presented at last year’s event were a satisfying chili representing Texas, chicken and waffles for Indiana, corn from Iowa, clam chowder for Rhode Island and and key lime pie for Colorado.
For Virginia, participants shared a well-known favorite — ham biscuits.
This year, participants can expect foods inspired by the Mississippi Delta, the Louisiana Bayou, Texas, Mexico among countless other choices.
“The Taste-A-State event promises to be a treat for persons of all ages,” the release noted.
