A Dundas man will serve prison time after stealing five firearms and a television from his brother’s residence on Longview Drive in Kenbridge, a news release from the Lunenburg County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office cited.

Ronald Keith Franklin, 35, of Dundas, was sentenced recently in Lunenburg County Circuit Court to serve two years in prison. He was convicted of three felonies, the release cited, which include grand larceny of the firearms, grand larceny of a television, and possession of a firearm by a non-violent convicted felon.

The release cited that an additional 13 years was imposed and suspended upon conditions of good behavior, supervised probation and warrantless searches.

“According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the investigation began when the brother called the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office to report that his brother had stolen a 50-inch television and five firearms from his home,” the release cited. “He said Franklin had been arrested in Mecklenburg County for three counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, one count of petit larceny and one count of receiving stolen property. His trial date is July 25, 2018.”

The television was recovered by the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office.

The release cited that the guns were found in Lunenburg County by the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office, and the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force on a tip that Franklin had exchanged them for drugs.

“Franklin is also facing a revocation proceeding in Brunswick County,” the release cited. “Franklin’s past record consists of five felony convictions from 2008 through 2013 for burglary and grand larceny in Brunswick County, and abduction by force in Mecklenburg County and two subsequent felony probation violations in Brunswick which made him subject to the mandatory minimum sentence of two years.”
