Adjustments to the fiscal year 2019 budget and a report on the county landfill will be discussed during the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors meeting Thursday.

Deputy County Administrator Nicole Clark said the items related to the budget adjustments would be presented during the Thursday meeting. “Budget adjustments will likely be presented at the meeting,” Clark said.

The total fiscal year 2019 budget, passed during the board’s May meeting, is $32,835,469, with an increase of personal property tax of $3.80, rising from $3.60 that will take effect during the 2019 calendar year.

A report about the county landfill is also set to take place.

According to a report included in the meeting board packet from Landfill Liaison Carl Ashworth, engineers are preparing the land for a new cell that is set to be built at the landfill.

The report also cited a June 25 focus inspection from Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ) representative Doug Masini of the landfill. The report cited that Masini found a few items that required attention and that he would return to complete the inspection.

Ashworth’s report also cited that Container First Services (CFS) employee Collin Moore terminated his employment and has been replaced by CFS employee Kurt Wood. Ashworth’s report cited that Wood’s transition into landfill supervisor will be overseen by the VADEQ.
